Ecopower Heating Warms Worshippers

Members of the management team from St Mary’s Church in Tadley, Hampshire came to us recently for help with their heating. They now have ten Economiser Electric Radiators installed throughout the church. The congregation are warm, and the building is free from the damp which was damaging the church organ.

The church had always been cold. It was built in 1959 to a modern design, and with it came an electric under floor heating system, which had since stopped working.  This was supplemented by a number of over-head heaters, but the nave, adjoining vestry, and prayer rooms remained chilly and damp. When the church management discovered that the cold and damp was beginning to damage the organ, they decided to take action, and upgrade the electric heating.

During the initial site survey we noted the high heat-loss factors. As with most large buildings of this age, there is little in the way of insulation, and the windows are just single-glazed. The high ceilings and solid block construction compounded the problem. The intermittent occupancy meant that the chosen electric heating system needed to be responsive, programmable, and effective.
