Did You Know?
Storage heaters waste more energy than any other form of electric heating.
By their very nature, storage heaters are very inefficient and lose heat from the moment that the bricks are “charged” over night.
Much in the same way that a large Thermos flask works - You can expect hot coffee in the morning, but it’s tepid by the afternoon, so you pour it away.
Our system is effectively re-boiling the kettle with just enough water, exactly when it’s required.
FAQ
Are Ecopower Electric Radiators safe to use where there are children or elderly people?
Yes. Economiser Electric Radiators have wireless controllers that can be kept out of the reach of children, making the radiator completely tamper-proof. Vantage Radiators also feature lockable controls. A robust build quality and an average maximum surface temperature of around 60 degrees means that Economiser and Vantage Electric Radiators are also suitable for public buildings.
What’s the best electricity tariff to use?
Most tariffs are suitable for use with Ecopower electric heating apart from Economy 7, however, if you currently have an Economy 7 meter, it’s easy to change. Further details can be found in our blogs page. There are many different suppliers and deals to choose from since the deregulation of the energy market. Economiser and Vantage Electric Radiators offer excellent energy efficiency with either a standard rate tariff or an Economy 10 rate, although generally a cheap standard tariff is the best choice. Shop around, use comparison websites, and ask for the cheapest possible KWH unit price. We check on tariffs regularly, and can offer advice if necessary.
Are savings on my energy bill guaranteed?
No. If for instance, you are upgrading from old storage heaters, it can sometimes be possible for your bill to stay the same, or slightly increase. This is usually only in older properties, or buildings with poor insulation. Although this is rare, you need to consider the reason for changing from storage heaters. One of the most common reasons for replacing storage heaters is that they run out of stored heat quickly – leaving the property cold by the late afternoon. If you have become accustomed to a cold home, you will appreciate the continuous warmth that a direct-acting heating system can provide. This heat is lost faster when the property lacks insulation though, so is maintained with more power consumption. Insulation, careful usage, and a low tariff are key. Every degree above 20°C can increase your energy bill by around 10%, so it’s important to set your thermostat correctly, to the lowest comfortable level. We also suggest setting the temperature back while sleeping, and when the property is unoccupied. It can also be possible that a meter read has been made, when previously, your supplier had billed you based on estimates. This can also make your bill appear higher.
Why are Economiser Radiators priced so much lower than some other other German-built radiators?
Simply because our profit margins are far lower, we hold bulk quantities in stock, and we don’t pay sales people on commission. We will NEVER give you misleading information on running costs, or attempt to discredit other products, in order to sell our ranges at higher prices.
Why do we only have two radiator ranges?
Because they are the best radiators in their categories of steel, and aluminium radiators, and they reflect perfectly our key principles of performance, efficiency, and design. We don’t offer convectors, panel heaters, storage heaters, or fan heaters because they don’t perform as well as radiators. Our sizes range from 600w to 2.5kw.
Can I use Ecopower Heating Electric Radiators in conjunction with existing wet-based heating systems?
Yes. The Economiser and Vantage Electric Radiators range can be installed permanently into the electricity supply for either a static installation or for temporary purposes for rooms that require additional heating, providing radiant warmth in hard to heat areas. Where a new conservatory is planned, regulations state that existing gas-fired wet systems must not be extended to heat additional areas. In these instances, Ecopower Heating electric heating solutions are ideal.
Are Ecopower Electric Radiators suitable for bathrooms?
Yes. As a more cost-effective and efficient option than under-floor heating, Economiser and Vantage Electric Radiators are ideal for bathrooms. An IP24 certified electrical rating means that the radiators may be fixed at a safe distance from baths or showers in new build homes or renovations. We also stock a range of electrical heated towel rails in sizes to suit any requirement.
Are Ecopower Electric Radiators suitable for conservatories?
Yes. We specialise in conservatory electric heating. Economiser Electric Radiators are available in heights to suit even the lowest conservatory sill. Building regulations do not allow for an existing gas or oil heating system to be extended for use into a new conservatory. The area must rely on a separate heating source. As with any hard to heat area, Ecopower Electric Radiators are ideal for heating conservatories.
Can I mount the radiators on a plasterboard wall?
Yes. Standard fixings and brackets are included. These are suitable for all radiators on solid walls, but you should ensure that the right fixings are used on plasterboard walls. For larger electric radiators, we recommend using spring-loaded plasterboard fixings.
Who should install my Ecopower Heating Electric Radiators?
If you are having your electric radiators hard-wired to enable wireless programming, the job is simple and can be completed in around 20 minutes per radiator. We recommend using a qualified electrician who is NICEIC registered, however, you may carry out the work yourself if you are competent, but may need to have the job checked over once completed. Vantage Radiators can simply be plugged-in. We don’t add a premium for installation in our quote and think it’s fairer to let you find a trusted local contractor. We are happy to help your chosen installer with any technical advice. If, however, you would like us put you in touch with an experienced installer, please ask. If you are an electrical contractor and would like to become an Ecopower Heating Approved Installer, please get in touch. Our installers are busy all year round. They enjoy discounted pricing, excellent technical support and total independence and flexibility as we don’t take a commission.
Are Ecopower Electric Radiators the same as others?
No. The Economiser and Vantage Electric Radiators are the highest quality electric heating solutions that we know of. There are very few other electric radiators that compare in terms of overall quality, performance, reliability, certification, warranty, temperature control and energy efficiency. Similar looking electric radiators rarely achieve the levels of energy efficiency that are claimed. Our radiators are the best that we know of and are accredited with the following marks of quality and safety assurance:
Do you have a showroom I can visit?
No. Ecopower Heating is an internet-based electric heating business. In keeping our costs down, we strive to offer you our best prices. Please see the products pages for detailed pictures. If you would like further information, please don’t hesitate to ask.
Why don’t you offer free delivery?
We could do, but we’d then have to build it into the price of your radiators. We think that most people prefer transparency. You’ll see on your Ecopower Heating quotation, that we show a full price break-down, and also an overall package discount. The delivery charge that we include is never more than our cost-price, and is often less. Due to the size and weight of our products, delivery is not cheap. Having tried cheaper alternatives, we found that items can arrive damaged- leading to unhappy customers and delayed installations. Our deliveries are made on a pallet service, by the UK’s leading pallet delivery network, to ensure that your radiators arrive in perfect condition. If you would like to collect your radiators, or arrange your own delivery transport, we will be pleased to help.
What if I find Ecopower Heating products cheaper elsewhere?
We don’t think you will. We are the only UK supplier of Economiser and Vantage Electric Radiators. If, however, you think you’ve seen something similar elsewhere at a better price, please let us know. If the electric heating product is of an equal quality, and is covered by the same warranty period, we promise to beat the price.
How long are the power cables, and do they have plugs attached?
All Economiser Electric Radiators are fitted with a 1.5 meter power cable. The cable can be located on either the right or left hand side of the Economiser Radiator by simply turning the radiator around. Power plugs are not supplied. Vantage Electric Radiators are fitted with a 1.2 meter power cable with a moulded UK fused-plug. The cable exit is from the right hand side. Ecopower Warmup Heated Towel Rails are available with your choice of left, or right-hand exit power cables. A left-handed cable exit is standard on towel rails, unless otherwise stated.
How long until my order is delivered?
Economiser and Vantage Electric Radiators are held in stock for a fast turn-around whenever possible. They are stored in our own distribution centre, so you may collect your radiators from us, if you wish. Some sizes are made on a special order basis, and sometimes we do run out of stock. We will advise you on an expected delivery date when you order. Usually this will be within a couple of days. In the worst case, delivery can take up to 20 working days for delivery to mainland UK addresses. All orders are treated as urgent and can be stored for you if necessary, until your chosen delivery date. All electric heating products are very carefully packaged to prevent damage in transit. Delivery is made by a third-party pallet delivery agent. While drivers will do their best to accomodate your needs, please note that they are not insured, or contracted to move radiators inside of a property, and will usually just deliver the pallet in full, to the main door or access point. We recommend that you have an area available for the pallet to be left, which is accessible, secure, and does not cause an obstruction. More information on delivery can be found in our Terms and Conditions.
Can I choose the colour?
Yes. Economiser and Vantage Electric Radiators are available in RAL 9010 white as standard. This is a classic pure white shade that looks great in any setting, regardless of décor. If, however, you would prefer an alternative colour, we are able to supply hundreds more. Choose from a RAL colour chart and we will finish your electric radiators in a colour of your choice. Please note that special colours take us longer to make, and will cost a bit more. We can advise you on the price and lead-time once you choose your colour.
What is the warranty cover for Ecopower Electric Radiators?
Ecopower are committed to providing you with high-quality electric heating products. Economiser Radiators come with a 30-year manufacturer warranty and a 2-year warranty for all electronic components and controllers. Vantage Electric Radiators are covered by a 10-year warranty, and 2-year warranty period on electronic components. Ecopower Warmup Electric Towel Rails are covered by a 5-year manufacturer warranty.
